Gem of the First Water

Animals in africa

W.A.L.T I decided to do my presentation on African animals because my favourite animal is a tiger and I love big cats. I enjoyed looking up on all of these animals, it was so interesting, I didn't know there were so many animals in Africa but now I know so much more.

Garden Presation

WALT: We are learning to find the answers to questions.

The garden presentation was hard because I had to write and image the pitches on to my slide.

What will your presentation be about?

Equipment list and why I chose my design

WALT: We are learning to design and create Pallet garden prototypes.

Equipment list:

1. Hammer
2. Nails
3. Wood
4. Hand saw
5. Tape measure

I chose my design because that was the only garden that I wanted to do and it is big enough for heaps of vegetables. I created a walkway that I could reach my plants quickly and put my veggies in a basket so we can eat them.

The most challenging thing was not getting myself our anyone by me burnt with the hot glue gun. I think my pallet garden will get enough sunlight and water because when the sun goes round and round the sun can shine in the garden the whole day. I think my pallet garden will get enough water because when the rain comes down the seeds and the plants will grow.

Division Presation

WALT: We are learning how to use division in maths.                                   




The slide was easy to make because I knew the answer. I really enjoy making the slide because I like maths a little bit.

                       The Kuaka represent us

WALT:  We are learning to be awesome kuaka of Paparore school.


On wednesday I made a kuaka out paper feathers we all made one because the things that we do at our school shows kaitiakitanga because we all love our school. That's why we made the kuaka. We wrote some words in the feathers and after that we went over the words in vault pen and then colored the rest in coloring pencil we all had to do three hole sheets of feathers.

The kuaka was easy because we colored  the feathers.

Under the bed

WALT: We are learning to use descriptive vocab in our writing. 

This is work I have written and edited myself. It is still a work in progress.  

One night under the bed I saw a monster crawling pass my teddy’s I screamed very loud and I shouted DAD! There's a monster under my bed it was scary with red eyes. My dad had to look for it but it slipped away out of the window. The next night the monster came back into my room again I went in dad’s room and he wasn’t there I found dad on the couch sleeping I was all alone when the monster hunted me. I didn't know what to do when my dad was asleep. But then there was a noise in the kitchen and finally he woke up. He caught it with his bare hands it was saw because it had spik’s. The monster never gave up and every night he keeps coming and coming. But then he brought friends over they were in the cobid and also the fridge. I tried to stay brave but I can’t. 

This was easy because it’s just like a scary story.

What was your favorite part of the story?

WALT: We are learning about who and what helps us learn.

My learning map shows my aunts uncles mum and dad can help me with my home learning.

Drawing also helps me get better at coloring. It helps me learn by staying in the lines.

It was easy because we had to take a pitcher of our learning maps. Today was not hard for me I just gave it a go.

Swim safe assessment

WALT: We are learning how to swim safely.

I am able to float on my front and back.    Yes

I can do front glide with correct kicking.     Maybe

I can glide on my back with correct kicking.   Yes

I can swim freestyle.     Yes

I can do sculling to keep afloat.    Not yet

I can swim one length of freestyle with correct breathing.   Yes

Is it hard to float on my back because we are to heavy. The easy part was the freestyle. It was easy because of the kicking. The hard part was when you can’t see with your eyes open.

Gardening with Science

Reflection: I did't really like it that much because we had to put a table in and it was fascinating for me to put the writing in too.

My Holiday

WALT: We are learning to write edit and  recraft our writing.

To write my story I made a plan at the top of the page. Then I wrote my story underneath. The green writing shows the editing I have done and the red parts show what Mr Masters helped me with.

What is a number bond?

A number bond is like 10 and 10 is 20 because a number bond is two numbers that make a tidy number.

I  loved it but it wasn't that easy. It wasn't easy because of the coloring I had to do.

Hi my name is Shyloh . My favourite food is Mcdonalds and KFC. My ourite cat is Oly-J, he is the best cat in the world. My favourite animals are Tigers and baby Lions. Baby Lions are so cute. When I went to the park I played on the bars but I got blisters. At the movies my family went to watch The Hidden World. It is the best movie ever. My favourite sport is Netball. I always practise netball at home. And  that's all about me.

I did't like anything. It was boring.
